Guide On How to Advertise on Facebook

How to Advertise on Facebook?

Advertising on Facebook is a part of Digital Marketing. With this, you can reach potential customers who can actually buy your service or products. It’s important to know about different types of Facebook ads, budget options, and targeting methods, etc.

To advertise on Facebook you need to create a business page first. You should use Facebook Business Manager to manage your campaigns and ads.

In this article, we will use Facebook Ads Manager to perform all steps.

Step 1: Choose your Objective

First login into your Facebook ad manager and choose the Campaign tab, and then click create to start.

Facebook offers different types of marketing objectives. So, you can select as per your requirements.

    • Brand Awareness: Tell people about your new brand.
    • Reaches: Show your ad to people as many as possible.
    • Traffic: Drive human traffic on a particular website or web page.
    • Engagement: To maximize post engagements such as Like, Share, and Comments.
    • App Installs: Encourage people to install your app.
    • Video Views: To increase your video views.
    • Messages: Encourage people to contact you via Facebook messenger.
    • Lead Generation: Get interested people queries about your product or offer.
    • Conversions: Get people to take action on websites like subscribe or buy products.
    • Catalogs Sales: Show people ads for the products they are most likely to want to buy.
    • Store Traffic: Get people to visit your physical store.

You can choose a campaign objective as per your goals. In most campaigns like sales, you can pay per click and for traffic and views, you can pay per impression.

In this example, we are taking engagement objective.

Step 2: Name your campaign

Now, you can name your Facebook ad campaign. You will see 2 more options A/B split test and campaign budget optimization.

You can turn on the A/B split test option if you want to test your Facebook ad.

Campaign budget optimization is useful when you are using multiple ads. For now, leave it turned off.

For this example, we’ll choose Page likes.

Step 3: Set up your ad account

Now, if you have already set up a Facebook ad account then you will see the Click button for the next step.

Or, if you are new to Facebook ads then you will see the Set-Up ad account button. Here you have to enter some basic details to create an ad account such as country, Currency, and tie zone, etc. then click to continue

Choose wisely, because if you want to change any options in the ad account then, you’ll have to create a separate ad account.

Step 4: Target your audience

Now, time to target people as per your requirements.

At the top of the screen, you can give a name to your Facebook ad set and select a Facebook page to promote.

Now, select the first option to add your custom audience. Select target locations, age, gender, language, etc. At the right side of the screen, you will see an audience size indicator, that will give you a sense of your potential ad reach.

Always keep in mind that these are estimates, not guarantees.

Now, come to the detailed targeting. Effective targeting is the key to maximum ROI.

There are various ways to target your audience in Facebook ad manager. There are two fields to target the audience.

    • Detailed Targeting:

In detailed targeting, you can include or exclude people based on their interests, behavior, and demographics.

For instance, you can include those who are interested in driving and riding but can exclude those who are interested in racing.

    • Connections:

If you have an existing connection to your app, Facebook page, or an event you managed then you can target or exclude those people.

For example, if you want to reach a new audience, you can select “Exclude people who liked your Page.”

Or, if you want to promote a new product or an offer to your existing fans, select “People who liked your Page”.

Or, you can target friends of people who have previously interacted with your brand.

Step 5: Choose ad placements

Now, time to choose where your ad will appear. If you’re new to the Facebook advertisement, the good choice is to use Automatic Placements.

When you will select this option, Facebook will start automatically place your ads across Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, when they are likely to get the best results.

When you get more experience, then you can place ads in a specific location or platform. There are the following options:

    • Device Type: Mobile, Desktop, or both.
    • Placements: Stories, Feeds, In-article, In-stream, Messages, etc.
    • Platform: Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, or Audience Network.
    • Specific Operating System or Devices: iOS, Android, Specific Mobiles, etc.

Step 6: Set budget and schedule

Now, time to decide how much money you want to spend on ads. In this, you can choose a daily budget or a lifetime budget. You can set the ad start and end date or can choose a live ad right now optionFacebook-budget

You can control more your budget with an advanced budget option.

Then, click continue to proceed further.

Step 7: Create an ad

In the last step first, you need to select an ad format. These ad formats will be available as per the campaigns selected. Then, enter the title text, descriptions, images, videos, and links, etc.
