My background isn’t in computer science. I’m possibly interested in applying to this Computer Programming diploma program at Algonquin College. It’s all online. Going through that course list (and excluding the General Education credits), would you consider it worthwhile for web development? I’m not overly interested in software development more broadly. It’s also two years that I could spend teaching myself web development, doing projects and building a portfolio.
Another option: they have a two-year Internet Applications and Web Development program. I could spend a year saving up to move and do that program on the Ottawa campus on the condition that I’m stuck living there for two years with most of my belongings in storage. (It’s a six hour drive from where I’m currently living.)
Which one of those options would you choose, either a diploma or self-teaching (and then possibly a bootcamp)? Tuition is free for me, but meh, I’d rather do what’s better and most relevant. I’m still leaning toward teaching myself. Your thoughts?
