90% of all the information on the web is in writing. That means that typography is a skill that dictates that 90%. That’s a staggering figure that highlights just how important typography is. It’s absolutely everywhere: blog posts, social media, magazines, reports, books, and so much more. What this means for you as a designer…Details
For small and medium-sized organizations, content is usually the trickiest part of putting together a website. That often results in it being the one thing web designers are left waiting for when trying to finish off a project. Even if the overall design and functionality are a go, a lack of content halts progress. Over…Details
Hey all I’ve been working as a web developer for a few years and within the last 2 years or so decided that I wanted focus on becoming a better front end developer, but everytime I pick up a new library or tool to learn I always get stuck on what feels like the simplest things. I’ve tried ionic, native script, auth0 and my most recent exploration has been nuxt.js and firebase auth/data store and I just can’t seem to figure it out. There is even what seems like good documentation for it: https://firebase.nuxtjs.org/ but I keep running into issues. It’s hard to not feel like an idiot when you can’t get the basic well documented thing working. Usually when I hit a wall I’ll go looking for other articles or videos and more often then not I won’t be able to get those to work either. It’s frustrating feeling like you aren’t smart enough for this career, but at the same time I enjoy developing things and learning new things. This is mostly just a rant, I know I need more experience and I need to take a step back and keep trying.Details
I’m a moderator on r/privacy and we get a lot of questions about third-party trackers like APIs by Google, Cloudfront, Bootstrap, etc. Or requests for alternatives to something like Google Analytics (like Matomo) by users and designers alike.
I realize that these third-party tools – that double as data collectors for the companies that provide them – make your work easier, but our audience isn’t looking for easier, but better.
Are there any good tutorials, guides or other tools out there that promote privacy by design and ethical design?
I’ve stumbled across this: https://2017.ind.ie/ethical-design/ but I’d like to have something more specific / constructive.
It would be great to have something to point out to privacy-conscious web developers.
Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone! This is the first big project that I’ve put together since starting web development about 8 months ago. The front end is built in React and the back end is built in Node.js with a PostgreSQL database. I’d love to hear any and all feedback that you guys have!
